Item Description:
This is a beautiful vintage Yell Newman hand crafted Sterling silver link concho belt. Yell was a cowboy, WWII veteran, silversmith and master engraver. He worked on guest ranches all over the West. He also had jewelry shops in Scottsdale, Reno and Carson City in the fifties and sixties. He hand pushed the gravers, using no hammers or pneumatics.
This belt weighs 188.9 grams, 6.7 ounces. The total length is 42.5" long. The main part of the belt is 31 1/4" long and the chain extender is 11 1/4" long. The buckle can be hooked to any link of the chain, so this belt is adjustable for size. It is signed on the back Newman's Reno Silver Shop and stamped sterling. There also looks to be a monogram - S.C.H.
The individual conchos measure 1" tall and 1 1/4" across.
Newman's pieces are becoming rare. This belt has some silver patina and is in great vintage condition and ready to be worn.
