Toledo Spain Sword History
More than 2,000 years ago, in the 5th century B.C., blacksmiths in Toledo, Spain forged the falcata sword using an iron blade inside and a special design made to increase its bluntness. The swords came to the attention of Rome when they were used by Hannibal in the Punic wars and became a standard source of weaponry for Roman legions. Kings from all over the world had weapons crafted in Toledo.
The colorful elaborate "damascene" etching designs on the brass stand and the brass and stainless steel swords are a direct reference to Spain's famous ancient swords. The Toledo Spain cocktail skewers would add a unique touch to any home bar, cocktail party or festive event, and/or be a clever gift for a sword collector.
