    Description

    T
his listing is for a complete rug hooking kit designed, assembled and sold  by Sharon Perry. This kit comes with some beautiful dyed and as is shades to create a truly primitive piece of folk art.  It's suitable for a beginner or seasoned rug hooker. The rug would make a beautiful wall hanging, table centerpiece, trivet or candle/teapot mat. Lots of people hang these mats on old cupboards or make little pillows out of them as well.   Here's what you will receive if you purchase this kit:
    Color Photo of Completed Rug
    Comprehensive Rug Hooking Instructions
    Color Key
#8 Cut 100% Wool Fabric Strips
Pattern Hand Drawn on cotton monks cloth sealed at the edges to prevent fraying
Rug Binding for the Finished Rug
The dog is hooked with a pitch black and charcoal gray and the background with a variety of hand and mill dyed strips of wool. For a finishing touch I added a row of autumn red around the edge of the background.  The finished mat measures 6 x 12  inches.
If this is your first project I would suggest an oval quilting hoop frame which can be purchased at any fabric store. There are more user friendly and costly frames available, but I did my first dozen or so rugs on a quilting hoop and then graduated to the more expensive frame. There's no sense investing in expensive tools until you're sure you enjoy a hobby.
As for the hook I have solid hardwood and steel hooks listed for .00 but you can choose the option to add one to your kit for just .50 when you make your purchase.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss rug hooking in general, please email me and thanks for your interest in my work.
All of my items come from a smoke free home. To get an idea how easy this is to do just google "primitive rug hooking". There are several video demonstrations on U Tube.
